No surprises when it comes to Paul Merson and his prediction for Sunderland v Newcastle this weekend.
The last time he predicted a win for United was probably before he even started playing football himself.
Merson has declared that he can’t see Sunderland losing with forty thousand mackems cheering them on.
The only real compliment he gives Newcastle is that they are great to watch…
Yet another signed up member of the Sam Allardyce fan club, Paul Merson claims that the new manager will help Sunderland to a narrow 2-1 win.
Merson sees Newcastle losing due to giving chances to the opposition, despite the win over Norwich and even the TV pundit admitting Newcastle should have been ‘out of sight’ against Manchester City based on their first half display at the Etihad.
Paul Merson speaking to Sky Sports:
“I don’t see Sunderland losing this game, home advantage and 40,000 odd Mackems cheering them on is massive.
“Newcastle will be flying having scored six goals last week and, in fairness, they should have been out of sight when they played Manchester City in the game before.”
Great to watch:
“That’s what I fear though, they weren’t out of sight then and they gave Norwich chances. They play an open style of football which is great to watch but that could hand the game to Sunderland.
“The Big Sam factor, coupled with the fact they have to win, I see Sunderland just snatching this one to make it six in a row.”
