Newcastle United will be represented when New York Red Bulls take on Montreal Impact in the MLS tonight, according to US sports media.

The reason for Newcastle sending representatives is allegedly to watch Kemar Lawrence as reported by MLS Transfer.

The 23 year defender joined New York Red Bulls in March and has helped them to the top of the Eastern Conference table with 51 points.

Lawrence is 5ft 10 and left wing-back has been described as his best position.

A regular for the Jamaican national team, Kemar Lawrence has been a major success story for New York RB this season.

Tonight (match kicks off around midnight UK time) the defender and his teammates face mid-table Montrela Impact who are likely to feature recent star signing Didier Drogba.

Kemar Lawrence comes from a football family and his father also played for Jamaica, as well as club football for Santos.

With Newcastle struggling to find a left-back up to the job, it will be interesting to see if Kemar Lawrence or anybody else comes in during teh January window to fill what is becoming a problem position.

Though hard to see somebody like Lawrence being capable of making an instant step up to first team football in the Premier League from the MLS.
