Michael Owen has given his verdict on Newcastle United’s trip to Manchester City.

Not only does the former United striker/parasite think that Newcastle will lose, he thinks it will be ‘comfortable’ for the home side.

Michael Owen’s tip in his betting column for BetVictor is that Newcastle will lose by at least two goals.

As he points out, Newcastle don’t have the best of records against Man City, with a failure to score in the last five meetings and now wins in the last 17 league clashes.

The last three seasons at the Etihad have seen scorelines of 4-0, 4-0 and 5-0 so maybe Michael Owen is letting us off a bit lightly this time….

As ever, goals change games just as the win in the League Cup last season showed, an early goal from Aarons and an injury for Silva turned the match upside down.

Let’s hope Steve McClaren is not telling porkies when he says Newcastle aren’t just looking to defend this afternoon.

Michael Owen:

“Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 17 Premier League games with Newcastle and the Magpies have failed to score in the last five games between the sides.

“Sergio Aguero’s late winning penalty in the Champions League midweek could turn out to be a very significant moment in their season and I expect to see a comfortable home win.”
