Dream start at Sunderland for Sam Allardyce

Sunderland had the first look of their future under Sam Allardyce at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

Tony Pulis and Sam Allardyce went head to head as they put their combined efforts into killing off football as an entertainment.

The final score was two shots on target to Sunderland and only one to West Brom, thankfully that one chance fell to the wayward but talented Saido Berahino and he put it in the back of the net in the 54th minute.

Nine matches in and Sunderland are still to win a Premier League match, a second West Brom goal would have seen Newcastle rise above Sam Allardyce’s team but all that matters is Newcastle now putting the points on the board against Norwich.

Just to add insult to injury, former mackem James McClean then wound the Sunderland fans up at the final whistle which led to a load of handbags involving the likes of Lee Cattermole.

Hopefully he’ll run into Aleksandar Mitrovic next weekend…

Oh well, never the biggest fan of not having a game on a Saturday but we can’t complain.

As well as Fat Sam starting off as he means to go on, Villa lost 2-0 at Chelsea and Bournemouth were stuffed 5-1 at Manchester City.

A win over Norwich would lift Newcastle to third bottom and only two points off Bournemouth and safety.

Let’s get that party organised Steve McClaren!
