The rumours this week of the Newcastle team v Manchester City have proved correct.

The word was that Steve McClaren would play Yoan Gouffran in the middle of the pitch, despite him being totally exiled from the Premier League this season.

The Frenchman hasn’t played a single minute of league football this season and has only made it onto the bench against West Ham when he was an unused subs.

Desperate times, as Newcastle’s small squad and added injuries (see below) leaves Steve McClaren little choice but to play Gouffran.

Newcastle line up with:

Krul, Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini, Mbabu, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Anita, Gouffran, Mitrovic, Pérez

Newcastle Subs

Williamson, Cissé, de Jong,  Lascelles, Thauvin, Elliot, Tioté

Man City:

Hart, Zabaleta, Otamendi, Mangala, Kolarov, Fernando, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Agüero

Man City Subs

Sagna, Caballero, Bony, Jesús Navas, Demichelis, Iheanacho, Garcia Alonso

The injury list is below and as expected Jack Colback never made it today, whilst Tiote and Cisse are included on the bench despite not being fully fit.
