Aleksandar Mitrovic ‘It is like a drug’

Aleksandar Mitrovic says that scoring goals is like a drug and nowhere more so than at St James Park.

After opening his scoring account at the Etihad, the Serbian striker made it two in two with his first goal in front of the home fans.

Mitrovic says that he felt ‘happy and proud’ when he heard the crowd and celebrated his goal.

The number 45’s strike was crucial as Norwich had dominated the first 20 minutes of the second half and United’s breakaway goal was arguably the one that sealed the result.

Moussa Sissoko picked Aleksandar Mitrivic out with a great ball, the striker chesting it down and smashing it home with his left foot.

A few people saying it was a bit like in the style of an Alan Shearer…

Mitrovic expressed his relief that Newcastle had at last shown what they could do and played like a ‘real team’.

Let’s hope it is more of the same next week at Sunderland.

Aleksandar Mitrovic talking to the official club website:

“It is always an amazing feeling to score a goal but even more so here at St. James Park.

“I can’t put it into words properly, you need to score goals to feel it.  I have said before that goals are like a drug. If you score one, you want more and more, and that is how I feel now. I will keep working hard to score more goals.

“It has taken me a few games to do it but I am happy and proud to score and hear the noise from the crowd, celebrating my goal.

“I want to thank my teammates because they have helped me a lot since I came to the Club and they help me score goals.

“This is why I chose this league and this Club. Football is amazing here and there are so many goals.

“It is really interesting to watch and to play in, and I love being here at Newcastle.

“It was a big win for us, finally we showed we know how to play good football for 90 minutes and we played like a real team.

“I always believed we had more quality than we had shown so far this season.

“We always had confidence, we never lost it, even when we were losing games. We always believed in ourselves because we know that we are a good team and that we can make something special.

“But this is nothing, it is only our first win, we’ll continue to work hard every day and every week to get more wins.”
