Young Newcastle star Mackenzie Heaney has been playing in a four team tournament for the England Under 17s.
Last Wednesday (26 August), Heaney played the full match as England overcame Italy 3-0 in a match played at Telford.
On Friday they moved on to Walsall and Turkey were the opposition, the Newcastle player a second half substitute and helped his team see out a 2-1 victory.
On Sunday it was a winner takes all match against Portugal, whoever won the game would be the victors of this four country friendly tournament.
Mackenzie Heaney played the full match which was hosted at Burton, scoring his first goal at Under 17 level.
A very open game ended up 7-3 to Portugal but it gave a lopsided look to the score, as both sides had a lot of chances.
Heaney struck in the 14th minute to give England a 2-1 lead and in a topsy turvy first half, they then led 3-2 at one point, only to go in 5-3 down at the break.
Great to see as many Newcastle players as possible getting recognised by their countries and you can watch Mackenzie Heaney’s goal below.
There are five minutes of highlights and if you want to go straight to Heaney’s goal then go to 1.09, although he does also go close before that with another attempt on goal.
