Siem de Jong has been talking about what he might do when he finishes playing for Newcastle United.

No doubt, some of you will be mumbling that it would be handy if we could see him start his career at St James Park after an injury-plagues 14 months so far.

Talking to the Dutch media, Siem de Jong says that with Tim Krul having already been at Newcastle for ten years, then there is no reason why he won’t see out his six year contract on Tyneside.

The former Ajax midfielder will be 31 when his current deal is due to end in June 2020 and he says he fancies trying football on the other side of the Atlantic.

De Jong naming Los Angeles and New York as likely destinations.

Let’s hope first of all he reaches full fitness and form at Newcastle this season because it would be a massive bonus if he could start contributing what we all though he could give the team last season.

With the new signings this summer, Siem de Jong has been pushed into the background, so let’s hope he is raring to go after this international break, starting with West Ham on Monday night.

Siem de Jon speaking to ELF Voetbal:

“I can certainly stay here for five years, Tim Krul has been here for ten years – but it does depend on many factors.

“I am adventurous even though I stayed with Ajax for seven years.

“I would certainly look at the end of my career towards New York or Los Angeles.”
