Ahead of this afternoon’s game, Jamie Redknapp says that Newcastle’s players only need to do one simple thing.

He says they can forget about tactics and all it is really about is showing the fans that they have the desire to play for them.

Jamie Redknapp thinks they will still get beat but at the minute United are far too easy to play against, so they need to up the workrate and make it more difficult for Chelsea than it was for Sheffield Wednesday and Watford…

Jamie Redknapp speaking to Sky Sports:

“It looks like same old story…sometimes you look at a game and think this looks like a really good one (for Newcastle) but….Chelsea are starting to find form.

“Good news is that Costa is not playing, I know Mourinho has not won at St James Park but that is going to change this weekend.”

Just show some desire:

“Newcastle – I think it is actually quite simple now, forget tactics, go make some tackles, go make some challenges, work hard, stop other teams playing – because at the minute they are so easy to play against.

“All the faithful want there, is somebody to do something out of the ordinary. Go on a lung-bursting run, put the opposition under some pressure, just show some desire.”
