Who do you think should be in the Newcastle team v West Ham?
The only players who look certain to miss on Monday night are the injured Paul Dummett, Emmanuel Riviere and Sylvain Marveaux, plus red carded Mitrovic.
Mike Williamson was reported to have a bursa on his elbow but is expected to be alright to travel.
Regardless of that, it is difficult to see any change in the back five positions after two spirited displays against Manchester United and Arsenal – the only goal conceded in the three hours of football being the deflected own goal from Fabricio Coloccini.
It then gets more complicated though, as firstly, Mitrovic is suspended..
Whilst secondly, Newcastle are struggling for both goals and creativity.
The red cards against Swansea and Arsenak haven’t helped but in both those games the opposition were well on top before the sendings off.
I have a feeling Steve McClaren won’t stray too far from the players he has been selecting, though the following match against Watford could see major changes on personnel and formation if Monday night sees things go pear-shaped for Newcastle.
First team coach Paul Simpson has dropped a heavy hint that Papiss Cisse could be left out in favour of Ayoze Perez as a lone striker.
However, despite talking up Siem de Jong, I find it hard to see him getting his chance in a tough away game, especially not ahead of Georginio Wijnaldum, with it very unlikely that Steve McClaren would play the two of them in the same line-up at the minute.
To create the image above I used the NUFC team selector.
You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of them with our 16k+ followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using
When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.
Go to the NUFC team selector now and choose and share your Newcastle team v West Ham.
Before every match, simply go to the menu at the top of this screen and click features, then on the drop down list click NUFC Team Selector and choose your team for every match.
