No goals for Mitrovic but picks up another card for his collection

The latest round of international football has seen Aleksandar Mitrovic pick up yet another card for his collection.

A minute after Serbia made it 2-0 v Armenia on Friday night, the Newcastle striker picked up his latest yellow card.

This now makes it 47 yellows and 6 reds, for club and country, in the striker’s career and he’s not even turned 21 yet.

There were no goals though for the United forward, as he failed to add to his one senior international goal.

The result at least lifts into positive points in their Euros qualifying group, having been deducted three points after an abandoned match against Albania. Needless to say, Serbia still have no chance of qualifying despite last night’s victory.

Elsewhere, Moussa Sissoko inadvertently helped France to a friendly win over Portugal, the Newcastle midfielder’s 80th minute replacement, Mathieu Valbuena scoring the only goal of the game with five minutes to go.

Yohan Cabaye played the first half, whilst his best mate Mathieu Debuchy spent yet another 90 minutes sitting on a bench.

Happy days for Northern Ireland as they look to have a great chance, along with Wales, of qualifying for a major tournament at long last. United’s Shane Ferguson played the last few minutes as they beat the Faroe Islands 3-1.

At Under 19 level there was double success for some of Newcastle’s younger players. United defender Kyle Cameron helped Scotland to a 1-0 win over Bulgaria, whilst Freddie Woodman played in a 3-2 victory over Germany – Adam Armstrong remaining on the bench.
