Ian Wright says Newcastle players are a bottom 4 team but with top 4 pressure

Our old friend Ian Wright has been talking about Newcastle United once again.

This time though he is not slagging the NUFC fans off for being nasty to referees, which is one thing to be grateful for, considering the embarrassing way Arsenal fans have been going on after they were at the sharp end of a referee’s decisions at the weekend against Chelsea.

This time it is the Newcastle players that Ian Wright has targeted.

The former Arsenal striker says that the Newcastle players are bottom four in terms of ability but have the pressure that would usually go with a top four team.

Wright says that this is a dangerous mixture and something that no club would want.

He says that Newcastle have got better players than Sunderland but because of the higher expectations at St James Park, it is something that the highly paid black and white superstars can’t handle.

Sad to say but at the minute it is very hard to disagree on this one with ‘Wrighty’.

Ian Wright talking to The Sun:

“The pressure at Newcastle is top four pressure in a team that is a bottom four team.

“So that is not the type of mixture you want, everybody has got to understand that.

“I think that they have got better players than Sunderland but I think that the pressure Newcastle players are under, especially at home, they can’t deal with the pressure or expectation – the weight of the shirt.”
