3 injured Newcastle players – Club update ahead of West Ham
On Wednesday afternoon, first team coach Paul Simpson has given an update on three Newcastle players carrying injuries.
Sylvain Marveaux has now returned from France and is in the early stages of his comeback, Newcastle hope to get him back out on the training pitch within the next fortnight.
Paul Dummett has picked up another hamstring injury with Simpson saying that the club are nursing him through that.
Meanwhile, Mike Williamson has a bursa on his elbow and has missed training. A bursa (I looked it up) is a swelling on the elbow but United expect him to be available for West Ham.
Other than that, Paul Simpson says that Newcastle United are in a ‘decent place’ on the injury front at the minute.
Paul Simpson:
“Without wanting to tempt fate, we are in a decent place (with injuries) at the moment.
“Sylvain Marveaux has come back from France where he has been doing the early stages of his rehab. We are hoping he’ll be back out on the training field in next week or two.
“He’s out there now doing work with the medical department and then step that up into the football side of it.”
Paul Dummett:
“Paul Dummett has had a little bit of a setback, which is a blow. He picked up another bit of hamstring damage last week in training – we are just monitoring that and nursing him through.”
Mike Williamson:
“Mike Williamson has missed a couple of days of training, he’s ended up with some kind of bursa on his elbow which has been causing him some discomfort.
“We hope it will settle down and he should be available for selection for West Ham.”
“Apart from that it is just a little bit of nursing through, that players need, a bit of pampering.”
