Wijnaldum ‘Stronger, Smarter, Better’
New signing Gini Wijnaldum says that it isn’t only the new signings who have improved the Newcastle squad.
The midfielder says that the players who were here last season will be ‘stronger, smarter and better’ thanks to the near-relegation experience.
Wijnaldum also believes the type of football that Steve McClaren’s new look team are playing, shows as well what a big transformation is taking place.
The former PSV man is already looking as though he will be the key man in Newcastle’s attacking play this season and hopefully somebody who can turn draws into wins and losing positions into draws.
Gini Wijnaldum:
“We are growing and every game will be an important one, to learn and develop as a team”
“We won’t do it right on the first game of the season, it will take time, but it will come good because we train hard and work well.”
Swansea:
“I don’t know a lot about Swansea apart from the fact that they’re known for playing good football.
“Everything is new for me but I am looking forward to learning about the other teams and how they play.”
Do much better:
“Last year wasn’t so good because we almost dropped down to another league, but with the type of football we are playing now and the players we have, I think we’re going to do much better.
“The players who were here (already) have learned from last season, so they are stronger, smarter and better – it won’t happen again this year.”
