Florian Thauvin has arrived on Tyneside on Tuesday night to finalise his move to Newcastle United.

The 22 year old winger will leave Marseille for a £13m initial fee and is set to go through his medical.

Sky Sports’ man in the north east, Keith Downie broke the news via his Twitter account:

“BREAKING: Florian Thauvin has touched down in Newcastle to finalise his £13m move from Marseille. Expect him to have his medical tomorrow.”

Newcastle United officials were in Marseille earlier today to progress the move for Florian Thauvin and were reported to be going to travek back later with the player to Tyneside.

Remy Cabella left United’s training ground early this morning and also travelled to Marseille for discussions on a loan deal with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season.

All talks are now also said to have been completed for Cabella’s move, with the medical to be the final part of the jigsaw and expected to be taken tonight.

Marseille are desperate to get Cabella into the squad as soon as possible after two defeats from two games in the league and having lost Ayew, Imbula, Payet and now Thauvin.
