In the aftermath of the credible draw at Old Trafford, Tim Krul has predicted when Newcastle will get their first win of the season.

The Dutch keeper thinks that United will overcome Northampton in the League Cup on Tuesday night, which will give the team more confidence going into Saturday’s tough game with Arsenal.

Krul says that the result at Old Trafford feels like a win, especially as a defender, the keeper making crucial saves from Mata and Hernandez to claim his first clean sheet of the season.

After seven away defeats in a row, Tim Krul admits that ‘a few away games have been heavy for us’ and said he was pleased for the Newcastle fans who travel away, that they at last had some relief from that shocking run.

Tim Krul talking to the club’s official tv channel:

“When you have defended that well, a clean sheet away to Man United – especially as a defender, it feels like a win to be honest.

“The game plan was always going to be that we were going to hit them with Mitrovic up front, he nearly scored when it hit the crossbar.”

Away games have been heavy:

“We had other chances but we defended fantastically, some great blocks by Colo and Steven (Taylor), everybody really, Perez tracking back – I could call everybody’s name really.

“I’m pleased I could make a contribution and walk away with a point. Really important because a few away games have been heavy for us and it was nice for the fans to come away.”

First win:

“I think we can take a lot of positives out of this, a lot of team spirit, take it into Arsenal and get the fans behind us.

“I think we will get our first win of the season under our belts, more confidence, leading up to the Arsenal game.”
