Rob Lee has given his opinion on the transfer of Florian Thauvin to Newcastle and Remy Cabella in the opposite direction.

With the two medicals expected to be completed today, the completion of the deals could happen by tonight.

However, Rob Lee thinks it could be a case of deja vu if Newcastle complete the double transfer.

The former Newcastle midfielder/winger says he doesn’t think Remy Cabella will be any ‘real loss’ to United, after proving to be a ‘bit of a lightweight’ and not able to cope with the demands of the Premier League.

Lee thinks that Florian Thauvin has the pace to succeed in England but worries that it could simply be more of the same, if the 22 year old can’t handle the ‘physical side’.

In the past, class wingers such as Laurent Robert and Nobby Solano showed that you didn’t have to be physical yourself in coping with the Premier League.

It was simply a case of not letting the physical side of it get to you, dust yourself down and put in yet another killer cross/goal.

David Ginola of course was another one, he certainly had the physique but just let his feet do the talking (after the odd roll on the ground…).

Rob Lee writing on Kicca:

“From what I hear, Marseille’s Thauvin definitely has the pace to make it in the Premier League but can he handle the physical side?

“The lad tipped to leave Newcastle United as part of the Thauvin deal – Remy Cabella – certainly couldn’t.”

No real loss:

“Cabella was a bit of a lightweight and just didn’t get going. He will be no real loss if he does leave the club.

“I obviously hope Thauvin is a success but he’s not proven in the Premier League and that is always a worry.”
