Remy Cabella Marseille medical to be rushed through

Marseille are bringing forward Remy Cabella’s medical to Wednesday night.

In France, RMC have reported that negotiations between the player and the French club have progressed so well, they can press ahead with the medical side of things rather than wait until when it was scheduled for Wednesday.

Marseille are desperate to get Remy Cabella tied up as soon as possible so he can be integrated with the rest of the squad.

There is still no replacement for manager Marcelo Bielsa who walked out after the opening day defeat to minnows Caen, with then a second defeat to Reims.

With losing out of contract Andre Ayew to Swansea for nothing, as well as having to sell stars such as Imbula and Payet for a combined £25m+, Marseille were only able to bring in relatively budget signings as they have no Champions League cash coming in this season.

Now with Florian Thauvin on the verge of a move to Newcastle and expected on Tyneside tonight, Marseille are even more desperate to bring in players to belatedly kickstart their season, especially in the midfield/forward positions.

After losing these four players it becomes apparent why they want Remy Cabella involved as soon as possible, with the third league match of the season on Sunday at home to Troyes and Marseille still pointless.

Marseille are also expected to sign midfielder Jonathan De Guzman from Napoli after talks, but RMC say that this deal has been put on hold until the new manager is installed.

The French broadcaster point out that this is a little strange considering there has been no hold put on Cabella’s move, a possible suggestion being that part of the deal for Thauvin involves Newcastle being guaranteed a new home for Remy Cabella.

The Newcastle midfielder is still widely reported to be going for a season’s loan with a buyout clause of around 8m-9m euros but there have been some new claims that the deal may now be for a permanent transfer with immediate effect.
