Images of Remy Cabella training at Marseille circulated earlier today on social media.

Now late on Wednesday afternoon, it has been confirmed that the Newcastle midfielder/winger has signed his contract and will return to play in Ligue 1.

The move has been confirmed by French media organistion beIN SPORTS and they say that the formal announcement by the club is expected any time now.

Remy Cabella left Newcastle’s training ground yesterday morning and headed off to Marseille, with Florian Thauvin making the reverse journey and landed on Tyneside last night.

After agreeing terms quickly yesterday, Marseille were desperate to rush things through so that Remy Cabella can get started as soon as possible with his new teammates, in advance of Sunday’s match with Troyes.

The French club also finally unveiled their new manager earlier today, with former Real Madrid Captain and more recently, Olympiakos manager, Michel, taking the job.

The French club have lost their first two league games against lowly teams and also seen Ayew, Payet, Imbula and now Thauvin leave, with the club struggling financially with no Champions League football this season.

La Provence reported this morning that the Remy Cabella loan deal includes a ‘compulsory purchase option’, which ensure the player joining permanently for 9m euros (approx £6.5m) once completing a certain number of games during his loan spell.
