After the final whistle at St James Park on Tuesday night, we asked you for your Newcastle v Northampton player ratings.
Supporters rated all 14 players used and from that there is generated the overall supporter marks for every player.
Your man of the match (fan ratings as at 1pm on Wednesday afternoon – see below) was Florian Thauvin, not surprising after his goal and three assists, even though Steve McClaren played it down…
The French winger scored a very impressive 9.3 out of 10, one of the highest marks we’ve ever had.
Clear next best was Daryl Janmaat who looked right back to his best, if Thauvin plays predominantly on the right this could be a formidable partnership.
Next up we had Ayoze Perez and Siem de Jong both on 7.6, two players picked out by the Newcastle Head Coach for special praise and the pair were excellent last night in their respective roles.
On the less positive side, Rolando Aarons was lowest with only 5.6, the winger having a very quiet and almost anonymous match.
Joining him were the central defensive partnership of Cheick Tiote and Yoan Gouffran, both scoring 5.7 they were weak links in the team and of course it was the Ivory Coast international who gave away a daft penalty, as well as the ball on a number of occasions…
