Steve McClaren has made changes to his Newcastle team v Northampton.

With a number of players champing at the bit to get some game time, the United Head Coach had a decent number of options.

As expected Florian Thauvin makes his first start for United, following his near match winning cameo as a sub at Old Trafford.

Only Haidara and Perez survive from the Manchester United match.

Yoan Gouffran surprisingly recalled and playing in centre of midfield with Cheick Tiote.

Another surprise sees Perez as the lone striker and no sign of Papiss Cisse at all in the 18 man squad, though Mitrovic is on the bench.

The inclusion of Wijnaldum, Colback and Mbemba gives added insurance amongst the substitutes, whilst predictably Ivan Toney is included in the squad against his old club.

Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow get their first ever taste of first team football with United, Darlow having been on the bench for the first three matches and Lascelles not featuring at all.

Newcastle line-up with:

Darlow, Janmaat, Williamson, Lascelles, Haidara, Tiote, Gouffran, Thauvin, Aarons, de Jong, Perez,

On the bench:

Elliot, Dummett, Mbemba, Colback, Wijnaldum, Toney, Mitrovic
