Cardiff City haven’t done much business this summer in terms of incoming transfers and Sammy Ameobi was seen as their big hope to improve the club’s fortunes in the Championship this season.

Newcastle having agreed a new deal with Shola’s younger brother after his contract ended in June, before instantly loaning him out for the season to the Welsh club.

However, after some less than inspiring performances in pre season friendlies, Sammy Ameobi was left out of the final warm-up game a week ago against Bournemouth, only getting the last 16 minutes as a late sub.

Now the Cardiff fans have voted with their feet when it came to selecting their team to face Fulham in their opening match.

The popular website Wales Online which covers Cardiff City, asked supporters to pick their eleven players:

As you can see above, the Cardiff fans couldn’t find a place in the team, either up front or on the wing, suggesting that Sammy Ameobi still has some way to go to convince manager Russell Slade and the fans, that he is worth a place in the team.

The Newcastle winger having failed to score a single goal in any of the pre season matches and also creating very little.

Elsewhere, both Adam Armstrong and Freddie Woodman have already been the subject of positive reports at Coventry City and Crawley Town, having both signed up on loan until January.
