News tonight that Dick Advocaat is said to be considering a move for former Newcastle United Captain Kevin Nolan.

Nolan has come in for plenty of abuse when playing for the Hammers at the Stadium of Light because of his Newcastle connections but after Lee Clark signed for Sunderland, I would believe anything could happen. With the Mirror claiming that Nolan could be the next player to have worn both Newcastle and Sunderland colours.

Kevin Nolan parted company with West Ham this week by mutual agreement, with the player no longer guaranteed first team football.

In the lead up to that departure, the then West Ham skipper said:

“I have made my feelings known that I don’t want to be sitting on the bench. I want to be playing and give my all in training. If that’s good enough, then great. If not we’ll have to sit down and see where we go from there.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last three or four weeks playing in Europe. I’m coming to the tail-end of my career and I’ve got to do what’s best for me and my family.”

With four goals in three games against Sunderland (also scored at the Stadium of Light in a 1-1 draw), Kevin Nolan produced some great memories for Newcastle fans.

Whenever Halloween comes around I always think of that day, it will be five years ago when we reach 31 October this year.

Newcastle are back at the Stadium of Light only six days before that five year anniversary, could Kevin Nolan really line up that day in red and white?
