Three more Newcastle players have flown out to join the United squad who are spending pre season in America.

As expected Georginio Wijnaldum followed on from the original 23 man squad that flew out of Newcastle Airport on Sunday morning.

The new Dutch signing joining:

Goalkeepers: Karl Darlow, Freddie Woodman, Tim Krul,

Defenders: Fabricio Coloccini, Curtis Good, Jamaal Lascelles, Massadio Haidara, Daryl Janmaat, Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson

Midfielders: Rolando Aarons, Vurnon Anita, Gael Bigirimana, Gabriel Obertan, Jack Colback, Siem de Jong, Shane Ferguson, Yoan Gouffran, Moussa Sissoko, Georginio Wijnaldum

Strikers: Adam Armstrong, Papiss Cisse, Ayoze Perez, Emmanuel Riviere

However, Steve McClaren has also arranged for two other players to also fly out ahead of the second and third matches of the pre season jaunt.

Making the squad up to 26 are 19 year old defender Lubomoir Satka and 22 year old midfielder Mehdi Abeid.

The only comment from the club via their website:

‘Abeid and Satka (as well as Wijnaldum) were called upon by head coach Steve McClaren and takes the United squad up to 26 players…’

With no other explanation you then speculate as to why you would bother flying the pair out after deciding only days ago to leave them behind.

Whether through injury or not liking what he is seeing, Steve McClaren may  belatedly be giving Satka and Abeid the chance to impress him and have a future at the club, which to me looked to be curtains for both when they weren’t on the original flight.

What that then says about Newcastle’s transfer intentions in the rest of this window is anybody’s guess.
