The alternative black & white Ashley/Wonga free Newcastle Shirt released on Tuesday sold out in only two hours.

This initial run of shirts went on sale at 9pm last night but were instantly snapped up.

However, don’t despair – a further batch is now being planned and The Magpie Brand have released the following statement today:

The Magpie Brand, a fan-based initiative from a number of affiliated Newcastle United fan groups working together for a better run club, officially launched its website and first alternative merchandise product, The Magpie Shirt, at 9pm last night.

The Magpie shirt (see details of the launch HERE) is a clean and modern advert-less football shirt based on the Adidas 2015-16 striped football shirt design, and sporting two embroidered badges – one of a Magpie on top of a banner reading “UNITED”, the other the crest from the city of Newcastle upon Tyne’s coat of arms.

Within two hours after launch, the considerable initial batch of The Magpie Shirt was sold out due to demand that far exceeded our expectations. This morning we have liaised with our suppliers to immediately order an additional batch, considerably bigger than the original one, of The Magpie Shirt to be produced within the next two weeks.

Whilst as a group we are obviously delighted with the fantastic uptake of The Magpie Shirt and feel vindicated in our belief that there is a huge demand for a protest movement against the current ownership of our beloved club, we feel sorry for those Newcastle United fans who may have tried to order a shirt and who could not at this stage complete their order.

We are looking into the possibility of adding a pre-order feature to the website for people to register their interest and reserve their The Magpie Shirt for as soon as it becomes available for order again.

The Magpie Brand wishes to thank all Newcastle United fans who have bought a shirt, attempted to buy one, showed an interest or offered words of encouragement. We urge everybody interested to follow us on Twitter and Facebook in the upcoming days and weeks to keep up to date with stock updates.
