Jonas Gutierrez apparently has the choice of two clubs back in his native Argentina.

Argentine daily newspaper Ole report that both Independiente and Velez Sarsfield want to sign up the Newcastle midfielder when his contract at St James Park ends next week.

With no transfer fee it will help to smooth any move but Jonas Gutierrez will have to massively lower his Newcastle wage for any deal to be possible.

At the moment the national league in Argentina is taking a break while the Copa America is taking place, with club football set to start up again in July.

The format of league football in Argentina now sees a massive 30 clubs taking part in the top division, in a season running from February to December.

As a (soon to be) out of contract player, Jonas Gutierrez will be able to sign for anybody once 1 July comes around.

After 15 matches Independiente and Velez Sarsfield are 16th and 18th respectively in the league table.

At the top you have the club who Fabricio Coloccini supports and who he has been regularly linked with an eventual move to – San Lorenzo.

Good luck to Jonas Gutierresz wherever he ends up, with his increasingly improving performances towards the end of last season showing that he stil has plenty of days left at a decent level of football.
