Welcome to our daily rubbish Newcastle transfer news service, featuring all the players NUFC are ‘buying’ (including proposed loan deals) this summer.

We will update you each day and try to keep you abreast of all these exciting transfers that aren’t going to happen (as well as the handful that hopefully will…).

With 68 days until the transfer window closes, we have three more names to add to the running total, making a new total of 76 Newcastle have been linked with (Only 6 days until pre season begins and 15 days until the first friendly).

Defence is the name of the game today.

First of the three is Richard Keogh. Various media put his name forward late on Wednesday afternoon, Keogh having played under Steve McClaren at Derby County last season.

Turning 29 in August, the central defender has never played higher than the Championship but has an impressive fitness record, having played no less than 44 Championship matches in each of the last five seasons.

Next up is Craig Dawson, with ESPN claiming Newcastle are chasing this 25 year old centre-back. Since playing 41 times in his first season at Rochdale, Dawson hasn’t played a lot of football, joining West Brom for £300,000 in summer 2011.

The Baggies’ defender had only made 17 Premier League starts in three years, plus 16 for Bolton in the Championship during a half season loan, before eventually becoming first choice last season with 29 starting elevens in the Premier League.

Finally (today!), the Chronicle reckon that Joel Veltman could be the latest Ajax player (following Anita and de Jong) to be bought by Newcastle.

The 23 year old centre-half has made 49 league starts for Ajax over the past two seasons and is on the fringes of the Dutch squad, an unused substitute in the recent 4-3 defeat by the USA when Daryl Janmaat started. Veltman’s progress has been hampered by knee and hamstring injuries.

To try and keep some kind of order, the players are listed in alphabetical order by surname, then first/other names, the club they are/were at when Newcastle were linked with them, then finally the club they have ended up signing for (if any).

Please let us know of any that we have missed out as we go along and especially if you notice if any on the list actually sign for a club and we haven’t added that information.
