Davide Santon dismisses claims he’s agreed a deal to return to England

Earlier today, there were reports that Davide Santon had agreed to join Watford only months after arriving at Inter Milan initially on loan.

A little surprising for a number of reasons…

Firstly, moving to Inter Milan was a case of returning home for the Italian international.

Secondly, exciting times at Inter as they have already bought three players for a total of £50m, as well as Davide Santon’s permanent move.

Thirdly, if Santon was going to move elsewhere, you would expect it to be somewhere with a bit more scope than Watford.

Sure enough, it turns out that Davide Santon was as surprised as everybody else to find out he was moving to Watford.

In rsponse to fans talking about the transfer ‘news’ and leaving messages, the former Newcastle player used his Facebook page to confirm that the claims were totally fabricated.

Davide Santon:

“Hello guys, I read all your comments and want to say I know nothing about all this. I want to stay at Inter.

“Your comments were really very pleasing and I embrace you all with affection. Forza Inter!”

The 24 year old didn’t get many starts in the last couple of months of the season but he put that down to him feeling the effects of playing so many games in quick succession, coming so soon after being injured and then out of favour at Newcastle.
