The Alan Shearer statue should be ready in around six month which would make it around Christmas time.
The 9ft bronze tribute to the Newcastle legend is the work of Tom Maley and the question is where to put it.
The great man himself has told the Chronicle that he would like to see them stick his likeness outside the Gallowgate End, though more than a few fans wouldn’t have minded seeing it stuck inside the Gallowgate End penalty area this past season.
The statue would have got more minutes on the pitch than Facundo Ferreyra and arguably a few more goals than Emmanuel Riviere, plus surely it would have been a better option than launching the ball to Mike Williamson in improving our set-piece conversion ratio…
Alan Shearer speaking to the Chronicle:
“I will have to speak to the necessary guys who are going to make the decision but I think if I had my choice, it would be behind the Gallowgate for sure.”
Any better ideas of where to stick it?
