Young Newcastle star Paul Woolston was once again gave a faultless performance on Wednesday as he helped England progress to the quarter finals of the Under 17 European Championships in Bulgaria.

The 16 year old keeper made a brilliant double save in the second half that brought him another clean sheet and helped England to a 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.

Woolston had previously been between the sticks as the young lions beat Italy 1-0 and drew with Holland 1-1.

Topping Group D, England and Paul Woolston now face Russia on Saturday for a place in the semi-finals as they try to emulate Adam Armstrong and Freddy Woodman who win the Under 17 Euros in Malta last year.

Great to have a bit of positive news in Woolston, who at only 16 has already played for the Newcastle United Under 21s this season, as well as the Under 18s.
