Steven Taylor has now came out and said how uplifting he found Mike Ashley’s speech/interview before kick-off against West Ham.

The Newcastle defender though says that Ashley has to follow it up with a big investment in the squad in the summer transfer window.

Taylor says that it is obvious to everybody that Newcastle are desperate for some quality players to be added, to avoid another potential disaster.

Steven Taylor talking to Talksport:

“Everybody knows we need to add some top quality players.

“It’s great for Mike Ashley to come out before the game yesterday and say what he said, but I do believe  and I think a lot of the lads will say the same, he should invest big in the club in the summer.

Europe here we come:

“A lot of people have been saying we should be in Europe and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be. The top six, top seven is what we’ve got to be aiming for. And there’s no reason why we can’t.”

“You’re constantly getting reminded of it [the situation] every day when we come in. The media speculation all the time is negative, negative, negative.

(ED: It tends to have that affect when you are getting beat every week….)

Stamp collecting with Steven Taylor:

“The foreign lads who have come in this season or last season, I think they have understood what it is all about.

“This is a footballing city and, wherever you go, you’re always going to get reminded of it so when results don’t go well, yes, you can point the finger at yourself, the staff, the owner, that’s normal. If you can’t handle it then you should go and collect stamps.”
