Asked at his press conference before the Premier League encounter with Newcastle, Tony Pulis has denied that he was offered the hotseat at St. James’ Park back in January.

Heavily linked with the NUFC job in January, along with half of the World, the West Brom boss though did admit that Alan Pardew rang him BEFORE he got the Crystal Palace job to sound Pulis out about his former job. Pardew picking his brains as Pulis was at Palace last season.

The former Stoke manager admitting that Newcastle had been a big topic of conversation as well, though not in regards to him potentially getting the job.

Interestingly , Tony Pulis says that he thinks Newcastle fans are ‘entitled to show their annoyance’ at results when taking into consideration the size of the club.

Tony Pulis:

“I wasn’t offered the (Newcastle) job but Alan Pardew had rung me before he got the Palace job, asking me about Palace.

“I had a good chat with Alan about the situation up there. It is a massive club and has unbelievable potential but I had no contact whatsoever (with Newcastle).”

Forget about the hype:

“It is a wonderful stadium and we have just got to concentrate on what we want to do and forget all the hype about what Newcastle are up to.”

Newcastle fans entitled to be annoyed:

“I’ve not seen the other side of it. As far as I am concerned it has always been a very, very passionate place to play. Obviously they want results and they expect results.

“With the size of the club they’d expect better results and they are entitled to show their annoyance. They pay their money.”
