An amusing stat sees Alan Pardew picking up more manager of the month awards than Jose Mourinho this season, despite Chelsea having walked the Premier League title.

The Blues’ dominance hasn’t been reflected in the monthly awards for ‘The Special One’ (Mourinho not Pardew…), with in actual fact Jose Mourinho not picking up a single one this season.

On the other hand Alan Pardew picked up the award in Novemeber when Newcastle won 3 (NUFC 1 Liverpool 0, West Brom 0 NUFC 2, NUFC 1 QPR 0) and lost 1 (West Ham 1 NUFC 0) of their matches. That same month Chelsea won 3 and drew 1 but despite earning 1 more point it was the then United boss who was handed the award.

Ronald Koeman has actually picked up 2 awards more than Mourinho this season, winning the honour in both September and January. Ironically Newcastle played a big part in each of those, with the humiliating 4-0 demolition away and the 2-1 home defeat after the new year.

In fact I was surprised Alan Pardew hadn’t picked up another with Crystal Palace considering the run of form they went on before losing tehir last four games…
