Newcastle fans are set for two rare sightings, as Siem de Jong and Facundo Ferreyra are in line to start tonight’s reserve match at St. James’ Park.
United’s second string entertain Derby County with a 7pm kick-off and John Carver has already confirmed the Dutch international will start his playing comeback.
“Siem de Jong will play in the Reserves on Wednesday night against Derby.”
The former Ajax player has only started one Premier League match for Newcastle and that was late August against Crystal Palace.
A serious thigh injury and then collapsed lung have left Newcastle fans wondering if they would see de Jong again this season.
Maybe even more of a curiosity for the hardy few at St. James’ Park tonight will be a very very rare possible sighting of Facundo Ferreyra.
Not having played a single minute of first team football in a bizarre year long loan, according to the official NUFC website, Ferreyra ‘likely to feature’.
The player who was brought in on the recommendation of Fabricio Coloccini was claimed to have left his fellow players less than impressed in training.
Tonight you may be able to see for yourself after the Argentine striker’s recovery from a reported back problem.
It is £3 (£1 concessions) to see tonight’s match, though members/season ticket holders get free entry.
