With speculation rife about which players Mike Ashley will be willing to sell in the summer, Tim Krul and Daryl Janmaat have been the two most mentioned in recent days.

A transfer fee of £10m on each has been claimed by the Daily Mirror, as to what Mike Ashley would take for two of the few remaining saleable assets.

Neither player would find it difficult to find another Premier League club and the likes of Southampton, Manchester United and others have been credited with interest in recent weeks.

If Ashley raked in £20m for the pair it would represent around £15m profit which would be music to his ears.

With many new players needed for Newcastle to even attempt to compete/survive next season, it is hard to see how else substantial finds will be available unless star players are sold, unless Ashley totally changes the way he is trying to keep United afloat in the Premier League on a strict budget.

The problem of course comes if you sell two of your best players you simply need to replace them, and attempts to replace the quality players sold by buying budget replacements has been disastrous, with only Janmaat for Debuchy a success.

I can’t see both players still being here for another year at the St. James’ Park big top, if we are lucky we might keep one of them for another season.

After this nightmare season all we have to look forward to is the summer transfer market….if we avvoid relegation.
