Last Sunday, the day after the Newcastle v Swansea clash, police had to intervene at Newcastle Airport due to the behaviour of two passengers on a flight waiting to take off for Bristol.

The two men involved were Swansea fans who had stayed over and celebrated after their team’s 3-2 win at St. James’ Park the day before.

The flight was delayed by an hour after the Captain of the plane refused to allow them to travel after they abused cabin staff.

A Northumbria Police spokesman:

“Police were called to Newcastle International Airport at 3.12pm on Sunday 26 April, following concerns about the rowdy behaviour of two of the passengers.

“Officers attended and assisted with the removal of two men who were passengers on a flight. They were warned by officers under an Air Navigation Order about the use of insulting language towards staff.”
