Newcastle star reveals battle with 6 injuries
Rolando Aarons has dismissed speculation about his contract situation but revealed the truth about his real injury situation.
The Newcastle winger says he still expects to play this season but has admitted he’s had six injuries this campaign.
Rolando Aarons:
“I returned to training a couple of weeks ago and I had a couple of really tough weeks. So I had a reaction and thankfully there is nothing on the scan, so we’re just trying to find what the problem is.
“It doesn’t look too bad, just a little setback – I’m hopeful to play this season and I think I will.
“I’ve still got two years left on my contract and I’m working on my injury, I’m almost back fit. I’m happy at this club and love the club, so I’m fine really.
‘There has been speculation that your injuries are some kind of cover up for your contract situation and you are not allowed to play until you sign a contract?’
“That is a load of rubbish, I love playing football and there is nothing that can stop me from playing football.
“I’m sure the club wouldn’t do that anyway, this is somebody’s life. People make up rumours but they have nothing better to do.
“You’ve been called injury prone?’
“My hamstring injury…it’s not really a problem with my hamstring, nobody is out that long with a hamstring injury. I’ve had three hamstring injuries, two thigh injuries and a hip problem.
“I will return, I will return for Newcastle United. I promise you when I get on the pitch I will give 100 per cent as I always do, score goals and create them, because that is what I love doing and why I am here.”
