News this afternoon that Rolando Aarons has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The winger was thought to have a chance of playing for the reserves on Wednesday night and indeed after the Liverpool defeat, John Carver said he was going to check up on the young winger today to see whether he could be involved.

However, the Shields Gazette have now carried an exclusive and say that Rolando Aarons has picked up yet another hamstring injury and won’t be seen again this season.

Last involved on 1 November 2014 when United beat Liverpool, Aarons will see out this season then with still not a single Premier League start to his name.

Turning 20 in November and with no new contract as yet agreed, it will be interesting to see how Mike Ashley approaches the contract situation, considering Rolando Aarons is attracting attention but has still achieved basically nothing as a first team player.

Earlier today we brought you these quotes from the Newcastle Head Coach who was talking to the official NUFC club website and was asked if they could end the post-match analysis interview with a positive ending…

‘Just to try to end on a positive note, we have got Paul Dummett getting close, Siem de Jong and Rolando Aarons, how close are they now?’

“Well they’re close but you know…I can’t see either one of the three being available for the next game certainly, if not the next two or three games.

“So we have to be careful with Paul Dummett because he had a bad knee injury and we will bring him back when he is ready.

“Siem will be playing in the reserves possibly on Wednesday night against Derby and I need to have a look at Rolando Aarons when I go in tomorrow (Tuesday) to see whether he is involved or not.”
