Young Newcastle team lose 4-1 to Burnley in behind closed doors match
A young Newcastle United team went down 4-1 to Burnley in a behind closed doors friendly match down in Lancashire earlier today.
United took an early lead in the eighth minute when 19 year old striker Alex Gilliead put Newcastle one up.
However, Jamie Frost, Kevin Ly and Ntumba Massanka hit back to give Burnley a 3-1 lead at the break.
Massanka made it 4-1 in the second period and Burnley ran out comfortable winners.
With no wins in their last nine matches, the NUFC Under 21s/reserves next play Middlesbrough, at home on 7 April.
Peter Beardsley’s team will hope to pick up their first win since beating West Ham before Christmas.
