United kids do themselves proud: Liverpool 1 Newcastle 3
Liverpool 1 Newcastle 3
Always good to see a win over the red half of Merseyside, whatever age level it’s at.
On Saturday the Newcastle Under 18s were away to Liverpool and came away with a deserved and emphatic victory.
Despite losing all five previous matches since the turn of the year, United were in control from the moment the excellent Sean Longstaff scored two first-half goals in nine minutes. This takes his goal tally to 11 in 17 for the Academy.
The home side pulled one back early in the second-half, only for a few minutes later Stefan Broccoli to make it 3-1 and ensure the win for Newcastle.
A big well done to all thirteen players representing Newcastle on the day.
NUFC Under 18s: Brendan Pearson, Jamie Cobain, Michael Newbury, Kyle Cameron, Adam Laidler, Stefan Broccoli (Ben Drennan 69), Jack Hunter, Sean Longstaff, Lewis Suddick, Mackenzie Heaney (Jamie Holmes 69), Louis Johnson
