There has been much speculation about who is paying the wages for the five Newcastle loan players who signed for Rangers until the end of the season.

With Shane Ferguson and Gael Bigirimana expected to not play a single minute for the Glasgow club, fans of both clubs have wondered just who is picking up the bill.

In addition Kevin Mbabu hasn’t played yet for Rangers and Remie Streete was injured on his debut, meaning the only player the Scottish Championship club have got any return on is Haris Vuckic.

The Slovenian striker scoring three goals so far and instantly looking one of Rangers’ best players.

However, the Daily Record have now revealed that their information is that Rangers are paying out £1,000 a week for each player.

So far it is estimated that £40,000 has been paid out by the cash-strapped club and another £5,000 will be going out per week until the deals run out at the end of the season.

In English Premier League terms the amounts are small but in Rangers case, when you’ve got less than nothing, every penny counts. Especially when you’ve taken on players who can’t be used.

The players were never going to be on tens of thousands of pounds at Newcastle but it would be interesting to know how much Newcastle are still paying on each player, if anything at all in some cases.
