After making a seamless transition into the Newcastle United first team, Ayoze Perez has now picked up a top award back in his home country.
The United striker has been given the award for Tenerife’s top male sportsman of 2014, in recognition of his achievements.
Perez came to St. James’ Park as ‘one for the future’ but with the chaos at Newcastle United he was thrown in on day one as a sub against Manchester City.
The 21 year old has gone on to be involved in 27 of Newcastle’s 28 Premier League games (as a starter and as a sub) and arguably become the most uplifting part of United’s season so far.
His five goals have made him second top scorer at United and he looks to have a great future in the game…hopefully at Newcastle!
Accepting his award, Ayoze Perez said:
“Thank you very much to the Press Association Sport Tenerife for the prize. It is a double joy when you get an award in your hometown. It’s been a a big night.”
