Kevin Keegan shock favourite for Premier League job

Kevin Keegan could be in line for a shock return to Premier League management if the bookmakers are to be believed.

Leicester City have sacked Nigel Pearson with the club rock bottom of the Premier League.

However, reports suggest that at least part of the reason was Pearson’s manhandling of Crystal Palace’s James McArthur during their latest home defeat on Saturday.

Of course, that incident could have come along at a convenient time with regards to potential compensation…

Kevin Keegan hadn’t featured in the betting for the likes of the West Brom or Palace jobs, or indeed the Newcastle one.

So it looks as though somebody has been backing a tip from somewhere.

Keegan is as low as 5/1 with some bookmakers, with the likes of Neil Lennon, Martin O’Neill and Tim Sherwood also featuring at the top of the market.

Could be an interesting one for any new appointment because despite being bottom, Leicester are currently only four points from safety.

***In an interesting twist, late on Sunday night Leicester released an official statement saying that Nigel Pearson WOULD still be in charge for their next match against Arsenal on Tuesday night, despite widespread reporting earlier from the likes of the Guardian and many others that the Foxes boss had been fired. Maybe it will prove just slightly premature…
