Joey Barton taunts Sunderland fans after relegation scrap

Joey Barton has a ‘bit’ of history with Sunderland fans and enjoyed sticking the knife in on Tuesday night.

The QPR midfielder and Captain led his team to a comfortable 2-0 win at the Stadium of Light and the natives weren’t happy.

Their mood wouldn’t have improved after the final whistle either, when Joey Barton used his Twitter account to enjoy the moment;

 “Always nice to win. Especially when it’s against 5under1and…”

“Tremendous team performance. Whole squad effort. Thanks to fans who made the long journey North on a weekday. Plenty of hard work ahead.”

The win was especially sweet for Rangers and their travelling fans, considering that beforehand they had played eleven matches and picked up eleven defeats!

The Twitter ‘banter’ has been a two way thing with 5under1and fans regularly giving the former Newcastle midfielder stick.

The love/hate relationship began when Barton was at United of course and at its height saw disgraceful behaviour from the Wearside fans at a derby match, as substitute Joey Barton warmed up at the side of the pitch he had both abuse and coins thrown his way.

Last night’s result has dragged 5under1and to within two points of the drop and given QPR a potential lifeline, maybe not suffering too much from our old mate ‘Arry’s departure.
