Good news/Bad news on Newcastle injuries

It is a case of good news and bad news in advance of the trip to Manchester City.

John Carver confirmed this afternoon that Paul Dummett is almost certain to miss the rest of the season, after a blow on the kneecap at Palace means he misses at least the next ten weeks of Premier League action.

However, the local press had already stated earlier that the defender was going to be missing for at least a couple of months so Carver’s confirmation came as little surprise.

It was two other players though who John Carver had more unexpected news on.

In terms of positives, it turns out that Rolando Aarons has now returned to training after some three and a half months out, quite apt ahead of the return to the venue where he enjoyed his greatest moment so far, The young winger scoring the goal that set United on their way to beat Man City in the League Cup in October, surely though Saturday will come too early for him to be involved.

On the negatives, Remy Cabella has picked up a knock in training and is doubtful for the visit to the Etihad – typical when he has been putting some form together as well, hopefully it will prove to be something that he can shake off.
