Yesterday brought outlandish claims from his lawyer that Hatem Ben Arfa might even give up football, following being prevented by FIFA and the French Football authorities from playing football for the rest of the season.

His reserve match for Newcastle being counted as a competitive game which meant he’s already appeared for the maximum two clubs this season.

This morning brought reports that Hatem Ben Arfa could be eligible to go and play in the MLS as with their season being out of sync with Europe,, they kick off their matches in March.

The former Newcastle winger has rubbished his lawyer’s claims and has hinted that a move to the MLS could potentially be on the cards, or alternatively, even the North Pole…

“Today I am still in shock. I’m sad, but I don’t want to dwell on it

“Of course I will continue my career, I would go to the North Pole to play football.”

Finished with Nice but maybe not for good;

“I have had many messages of support, give me a week and I will answer (as to his next potential club).

“It is finished with Nice but maybe not permanently, I would like to thank the staff, the coach and the players who have welcomed me.”

Looking abroad;

“I am really sad not being able to play but I will not say I am sick of French football, though I am very sad about this situation.

“My main objective is to get back playing competitive football and I may go abroad – I have got meetings planned.”
