Club confirm only 4 fit Newcastle defenders left to see out season
Club officially confirm that there will be only four Newcastle defenders fit and available to see out the rest of the season, barring any injuries…
At his press conference pre-Manchester City, John Carver confirmed this morning’s rumours that the news wasn’t good on Paul Dummett.
Press reports suggested up to 8 weeks out but the Newcastle Head coach has now confirmed that Dummett won’t be back playing this season as he will be out for up to three months.
“The good news is Paul Dummett doesn’t need an operation but he is out for around 10-12 weeks.
Newcastle now have only Williamson, Haidara, Coloccini and Janmaat available now.
Mathieu Debuchy and James Tavernier were sold in the summer, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa sold in January.
Steven Taylor was then injured and out for the season before the winter transfer window opened, yet Mike Ashley still sent out Davide Santon and Remie Streete on loan and didn’t bring a single defender, or indeed any other player, in this January.
