Reports in Germany say that Newcastle United are interested in signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga in the January transfer window.
The now twenty three year old forward was repeatedly linked with a move to Tyneside in the summer but instead he switched from Hertha Berlin to Hamburg for around £7m.
By coincidence Hamburg (as well as a number of other football clubs) are also in Dubai at the same time as Newcastle, with the Germans having a friendly tomorrow against Manchester City at the nearby Hazza Bin Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi – also part of the United Arab Emirates.
However, German Under 21 international Pierre-Michel Lasogga is currently suffering from a thigh injury and is unlikely to take any part in the game.
Despite his injury, Bild report that Newcastle have resurrected their summer interest in the striker and Mike Ashley could well smell a bargain, as Lasogga scored 13 Bundesliga goals in only 18 starts (plus 2 as sub) last season at Hamburg, when on an initial loan from Hertha Berlin.
