Fears Of Third Ameobi Lurking Prove Groundless
A recent article we published provoked some debate and the odd bit of scaremongering, the posted article was entitled ‘Newcastle Could Be An Ameobi Free Zone By August’.
It was a reference to reports that Sammy Ameobi could be following brother Shola out of Newcastle United this summer with the club allegedly keen to sell.
However, it led to one of our Twitter followers posting the following Tweeted message;
@NUFCTheMag stop teasing, but isnt there a 3rd one at the club somewhere?

The fears of a third Ameobi still lurking in the shadows proved to be unfounded with another visitor to the site, resident of Canada and Newcastle fan, Les Jones, helpfully updating us that brother of Sammy and Shola, Tomi (or Oluwatomiwo to give his full name) is now playing in the North American Soccer League, which is basically the second division in the USA, behind the MLS.
Les informed us that striker Tomi Ameobi is now playing for FC Edmonton (see photo – Thanks to Les again) and has scored two goals in eight matches.
The 25 year old middle footballing Ameobi started as a youth at Newcastle but left at age 16 in 2005 for Leeds, since playing for Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Grimsby, Mansfield, Forest Green, Whitley Bay, Bolungarvik, Grindavik and VPS.
