Pardew ‘Pleased With Performance But Not The Result’
Thanks to the last two matches yielding six points, Alan Pardew was relaxed enough to be a little philosophical in defeat.
As the manager says, Newcastle played well but the second goal was the killer – not the best defending in the world but it isn’t every week you are up against Gareth Bale and he was the clear match winner.
This is what the manager had to say at full-time;
“Tottenham started really fast but after that we dug in and played some good stuff.
I was pleased with the performance though not the result.
It was an even game really, other than after the second goal when it opened up.
Their first goal was class but we should have done better with the second.
His (Gouffran’s) shinbone looks sore so it is fingers crossed. We don’t want to lose him, he has just come to the club”.
It would be a massive boost if there is more positive news on Gouffran’s shin but at the very least Alan Pardew has a couple of weeks before the next Premier League match against Southampton, a chance to get the new players really bedded in.
Though we do have the two Europa League matches in between so all eyes will be on exactly who plays and maybe more to the point, how strong overall the team is.
